Heat stress responses to increasing temperature humidity index (THI) in lactating Murrah buffalo

چکیده
The present study was conducted to determine the effect of increasing temperature humidity index (THI) on lactating Murrah buffalo. six buffaloes which were offered same basal diet and blocked by days in milk, milk yield parity. during May, June July with average THI 79.88, 80.57 85.36, respectively. Milk recorded twice a day at 06:00 18:00 h physiological parameters blood sampled 30th each month 14:30 h. results showed significant decrease (P<0.05) only 85.36 as compared up 80.57. rectal (RT) did not change (P=0.580) however, respiration rate (RR) pulse (PR) changed progressively THI. Leucocytopnoea, lymphocytopnoea neutrophilia; alteration serum urea, alkaline phosphatase activity, reactive oxygen species phosphorus concentration observed Similarly, T4, cortisol prolactin levels It can be concluded that experienced mild heat stress (May June) moderate type (July).

Is the temperature-humidity index the best indicator of heat stress in lactating dairy cows in a subtropical environment?
Several temperature-humidity indexes (THI) have been used to estimate the degree of thermal stress experienced by dairy cows. The present objectives were to develop equations using meteorological variables that predicted rectal temperature of lactating cows in a subtropical environment and compare the goodness of fit of these equations to those using 8 different THI. Rectal temperature was meas...

AIM The aim of this study was to assess the effect of microclimate alteration on temperature-humidity index (THI), milk yield, and milk composition of Murrah buffaloes during summer for a period of 90-day from March to May-2014 at Buffalo Research Station, Venkataramannagudem, Andhra Pradesh, India. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 40 lactating Murrah buffaloes were selected having similar bo...

AIM The aim of the present study was to assess the influence of temperature and humidity prevalent under subtropical climate on the breeding values for fertility traits viz. service period (SP), pregnancy rate (PR) and conception rate (CR) of Murrah buffaloes in National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) herd. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fertility data on 1379 records of 581 Murrah buffaloes spread o...
متن کاملInfluence of Temperature and Humidity on Pregnancy Rate of Murrah Buffaloes under Subtropical Climate
Heat stress has adverse effects on fertility of dairy animals. Decline in fertility is linearly associated with an increase in combination of both temperature and humidity. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between temperature humidity index (THI) and the pregnancy rate of Murrah buffaloes in a subtropical climate. The effects of genetic and non-genetic factors viz.,...
متن کاملA Re-evaluation of the Impact of Temperature Humidity Index (THI) and Black Globe Humidity Index (BGHI) on Milk Production in High Producing Dairy Cows
The temperature humidity index (THI) was originally developed for humans by Thom (1958) and extended to cattle by Berry et al (1964). It is currently used to estimate cooling requirements of dairy cattle in order to improve the efficiency of management strategies to alleviate heat stress. The Livestock Conservation Institute evaluated the biological responses to varying THI values and categoriz...
